A Collaboratively-Developed Cookbook
Open Harvest Cooks is a printed cookbook that is currently on sale at Open Harvest Cooperative Grocery in Lincoln, Nebraska. This cookbook is a compilation of member recipes that was collaboratively developed online using MetaCat. Members could contribute their recipes online, which were then reviewed, edited and finalized by the cookbook committee members. The Cookbook team manager can set up the desired cookbook structure (such title, ingredients, method, author) as well as desired metadata (such as vegetarian, gluten-free, dairy-free etc.) Custom workflow and signoff processes were used for quality control and assurance. See sample screen shots below.

Cookbook setup was quick and easy for non-technical cookbook collaborators. No programming was required. New attributes or sections can be added instantly at any time.

Once recipe sections (beverages, desserts, etc.) were complete, they were easily exported in XML format, and just as easily, imported into Adobe InDesign for professional layout and printing.

A small sample of recipes is available here to demonstrate how a collaboratively-edited cookbook looks online. Note that actual comments from recipe reviewers during editing are included.
